Police look for suspect who ran over elderly Hancock man in apparent politically motivated incident

City of Hancock Police Department

HANCOCK, MI— The Hancock Police Department is investigating three criminal incidents that appear to be politically motivated.

They all happened on Sunday. Vehicles were intentionally vandalized in two of the incidents.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., someone drove an ATV into the yard of a house on the 1600 block of Anthony Street. He ran over an 80-year-old man who was placing a political sign in his yard.

The victim was taken to UPHS-Portage with serious injuries. He remains in critical condition.

Officers believe the same person was involved in all three incidents. He appeared to target both Trump and law enforcement supporters.

The suspect is described as thin with long hair or dreadlocks.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to reach out to the City of Hancock Police Department on Facebook via Messenger or call 906-482-3102. Officers say due to the severity and seriousness of the incidents, they will be monitoring their Facebook page more frequently to engage with any messages sent.
