Cocaine, mushrooms seized during Marinette traffic stop

MARINETTE, WI— One person was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop in Marinette Friday.

A Marinette County Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The deputy developed probable cause to search it for narcotics, which resulted in the seizure of 167 grams of suspected cocaine and 8.4 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms.

The suspect was taken into custody. Their name has not been released, pending formal charges from the Marinette County District Attorney.

The City of Marinette Police Department assisted in the case.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
