Driver flees officers in Iron Mountain, hits parked truck

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— A driver was injured when they tried to flee Iron Mountain Police Wednesday afternoon.

Around 1:40 p.m., an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that left the road and hit a concrete flower pot. Officers say the vehicle didn’t stop but continued at an increased rate of speed until it struck an unoccupied pickup truck on the 900 block of West Hughitt Street.

The driver was taken to Marshfield Dickinson County Hospital with unknown injuries.

Iron Mountain Police were assisted at the scene by the Iron Mountain Fire Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Kingsford Police Department, Integrity Care EMS, and Iron Mountain Department of Public Works.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
