Woman charged with home invasion in Pickford

PICKFORD, MI— A Sault Ste. Marie woman was arrested Tuesday for breaking into a Pickford home and assaulting the homeowner.

A trooper from the Soo Post responded to a residence on Townline Road in Pickford Township on a report of a home invasion. The trooper found 46-year-old Kimberly Backus had entered the house without permission. The home belonged to an ex-acquaintance of hers. Backus then allegedly assaulted the homeowner.

Backus was arrested for first-degree home invasion and domestic violence. She was arraigned Wednesday in 91^st District Court. She’s next due in court on November 18.
