Discrimination/harassment incident being investigated at Bay College

ESCANABA, MI— Bay College is investigating an incident of discrimination and harassment.

In a Facebook post, President Nerita Hughes said it happened at a third-party-hosted event on the Escanaba campus. No details about the nature of the harassment were given.

Hughes said college officials are actively investigating the situation in conjunction with Escanaba Public Safety. The president said Bay’s mission is rooted in fostering student success that extends to every aspect of the campus experience—including safety.

“We are committed to providing a safe environment where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive together, recognizing that a secure campus is foundational to achieving our shared goals and empowering our community.”

Anyone who feels they have been discriminated against, harassed, or suffered violence at Bay College is urged to report it to any Bay College staff member, report online, or contact (800) 221-2001.
