Teenaged suspects in stolen vehicle take Menominee law enforcement on high-speed chase

MENOMINEE, MI— Two people were taken into custody in Menominee Township, following a string of vehicle thefts and an interstate vehicle pursuit.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office says just after 9 a.m. Thursday, local law enforcement agencies were notified that a stolen vehicle involved in a gas drive-off in Marinette was located in the City of Menominee. Officers learned the suspects in the incident were involved in a number of vehicle thefts spanning multiple Wisconsin counties.

Menominee Police tried to stop the vehicle, but it initiated a high-speed pursuit through the city. It ultimately came to a stop at a residence near US-41 and Elmwood Road #4 in Menominee Township, where the two male passengers fled into the woods with a firearm.

K9 and drone teams from multiple agencies were used to find the suspects, who had separated while fleeing. An unarmed 15-year-old male was quickly apprehended.

The second suspect, another teenage male, was located by a drone and pursued through wooded areas and open fields. He was found with self-inflicted injuries and taken to Aurora Bay Area Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Menominee Police Department, Marinette Police Department, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Aurora Bay Area ambulance, Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc., and Menominee County 911.
