Iron River man arrested for making terroristic threats online

IRON RIVER, MI— Michigan State Police have arrested an Iron River man who allegedly made terroristic threats to Iron County residents and children via the internet.

On Wednesday, troopers from the Iron Mountain Post took a 40-year-old suspect into custody shortly after the investigation began. Schools were notified of the arrest prior to the beginning of the next school day so they could hold classes.

The suspect’s name is being withheld, pending arraignment.

The case remains under investigation.

Assisting in the incident were the Iron River Police Department, Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Natural Resources, and Aspirus EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
