Police stop attempted robbery in Menominee Township

MENOMINEE TOWNSHIP, MI— Law enforcement officers stopped a robbery at a Menominee Township motel Thursday morning.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at about 7:35 a.m. to the Bay Breeze Motel on a report of a robbery in progress. A male guest said he had a firearm.

Deputies and officers from the Menominee Police Department arrived within minutes and arrested the man. No firearm was found.

The suspect was lodged in the Menominee County Jail, pending formal charges.

The Sheriff’s Office says although the incident remains under investigation, the matter is considered resolved. There is no current threat to the public.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
