Germfask teen arrested for stealing Marquette vehicle

MARQUETTE, MI— A Schoolcraft County man was arrested Friday for stealing a vehicle from Marquette.

Marquette City Police responded around 8 a.m. to the 1100 block of Presque Isle Avenue. The victim said her vehicle had been taken from her driveway earlier that morning.

Officers tracked the vehicle electronically and saw it was traveling east through the U.P. They alerted law enforcement along US-2.

Around 9:45 a.m., Michigan State Police stopped the vehicle near Brevort. The driver and lone occupant, an 18-year-old man from the Germfask area, was arrested for stolen property-receiving and concealing a motor vehicle. He was lodged in the Mackinac County Jail.

The case has been forwarded to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The suspect’s name has not been released, pending arraignment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
