Man extradited from Washington to face CSC charges in Chippewa County

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A former Chippewa County resident has been extradited from Washington state on charges of criminal sexual conduct.

Aaron Jarrett, 36, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in May of 2016. He was charged later that year with four counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of unlawful imprisonment.

Jarrett was extradited from Clark County, Washington to Chippewa County, Michigan Wednesday as part of Operation Survivor Justice. It’s a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend, and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.

Jarrett remains lodged on a $500,000 bond. A probable cause hearing is set for March 13 and a preliminary hearing for March 20 in 91st District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
