MARQUETTE, MI— Two additional people have been arrested in connection with a Marquette child abuse case involving a doctor and his wife.
Dr. Colin Irish and his wife, Carrie Irish, were arrested for 2nd-degree child abuse in February for locking their 10-year-old special needs son in a closet, among other allegations.
On March 7, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office authorized arrest warrants for Michelle Maxson, 47, and Linda Maxson, 80, Carrie Irish’s sister and mother, respectively.
Michelle Maxson was arrested Monday for 2nd-degree child abuse, two counts of committing 2nd-degree child abuse in the presence of another minor, and two counts of failure to report child abuse. Michelle worked as a special education aide at Graveraet Elementary School in Marquette and is a mandated reporter.
Michelle posted a $2,000 cash bond and was released on Tuesday.
Linda Maxson turned herself in on Monday on a warrant for 2nd-degree child abuse and two counts of committing 2nd-degree child abuse in the presence of another minor.
She posted a $1,000 cash bond and was released from custody.
On Wednesday, Colin and Carrie Irish were arraigned via Zoom in 96th District Court of Marquette on additional charges. Both were charged with two counts of 1st-degree child abuse, two counts of committing 1st-degree child abuse in the presence of another minor and two counts of committing 2nd-degree child abuse in the presence of another minor. Colin Irish was also charged with two counts of failure to report child abuse due to being a mandated reporter.
New information alleges that one of the 8-year-old children living in the Irish home was neglected from receiving proper medical care for multiple ongoing medical needs.
Michelle and Linda Maxson shared a household with the Irishes while the 8-year-old and 10-year-old children were allegedly abused.
