Marquette Police arrest Chippewa County man for stealing vehicle

MARQUETTE, MI— A Chippewa County man has been arrested for stealing a vehicle in Marquette.

Tuesday around 8:10 a.m. the Marquette Police Department responded to the 600 block of West Washington Street on a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim said the vehicle had been taken sometime earlier that morning. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle at various places in southern Marquette County.

The vehicle was found around 9 a.m., unoccupied, on the 600 block of West Bluff Street in Marquette.

The suspect—a 27-year-old Chippewa County man who is temporarily staying in Marquette—was later located on the 400 block of West Washington Street. He was arrested for unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and operating without a license and lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
