Houghton ATM break-in, stolen vehicle may be connected, police say

HOUGHTON, MI— Houghton Police are investigating the attempted break-in of an ATM machine at the Breakwater Credit Union.

Officers were dispatched to the building on Sharon Avenue Sunday around 8 a.m. Investigation revealed two male subjects had tried to break into the machine earlier that morning. No money was taken.

Police believe the incident is connected to a vehicle that was stolen from South Range and later recovered in Dodgeville. Michigan State Police are investigating that incident.

Anyone with information regarding the ATM damage is asked to call the Houghton Police Department at 906-482-2121.
