Delta County man who fled to Allegan County to avoid arrest charged with felonies in both counties

ESCANABA, MI— A Gladstone man has been charged with a number of felonies in two Michigan counties.

An April 6 investigation by Michigan State Police from the Gladstone post resulted in the Delta County Prosecutor issuing arrest warrants for Hunter Gallagher, 24. He allegedly had committed multiple crimes in the county.

Gallagher fled to downstate Allegan County to avoid arrest, but troopers from the Wayland Post located him. During his arrest, Gallagher committed additional crimes.

Gallagher was charged in Allegan County District Court April 9 with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting/obstructing a police officer, and felony firearms. A $50,000 bond was set.

Following his arraignment downstate, Gallagher was transferred to Delta County. He was charged Monday with 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and felony firearms.

Gallagher remains lodged in the Delta County Jail on a $500,000 bond. A preliminary exam is set for May 1.

The MSP Gladstone Post was assisted by the Escanaba Public Safety Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Department, and MSP Wayland Post in the investigation and arrest.

MSP continues to work with law enforcement and prosecutors with these investigations and any related investigation(s).
