MARQUETTE, MI— A Marquette man has been charged with embezzling money from Gwinn VFW Post 5760.
The Forsyth Township Police Department says investigation into Brian Parsons, 54, began several months ago when staff noticed discrepancies in the Post’s financial reports. Police found that Parsons, who was a volunteer at the Post, had embezzled several thousand dollars over multiple years while overseeing finances.
Parsons was taken into custody at his Marquette residence on March 18. He was arraigned Thursday on charges of embezzlement by an agent, $1,000 to $20,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 30.
