Suspect arrested in Menominee County stabbing incident

DAGGETT, MI— A Stephenson man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Daggett.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched Friday around 10:58 p.m. to a residence in Daggett Township on a report of a stabbing in progress. Deputies were told the suspect had fled the scene on foot and was headed south.

Officers assisted the 24-year-old victim at the scene and launched a search for the 35-year-old suspect. He was found around 11:19 p.m. at an adjacent property and taken into custody.

The man remains lodged in the Menominee County Jail, pending formal charges.

The Sheriff’s Office says it was an isolated incident between acquaintances and there is no threat to the public.

Deputies were assisted by Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post, Mid-County Rescue 114, and Menominee County 911.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
