Ishpeming CSC suspect charged in two new cases

MARQUETTE, MI— An Ishpeming man charged with criminal sexual conduct in two separate cases has been arraigned on new charges in two additional cases.

Gerald Burton, 34, was arrested in April and charged with five counts of CSC.

In the initial press release, Michigan State Police asked anyone with additional information to contact them. Two previously unknown victims stepped forward and spoke with detectives. Investigations led to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office issuing more felony charges against Burton.

On Thursday, Burton was arraigned on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. His bond was set at $20,000.

He was arraigned a second time Thursday in a separate case. That charge was also third-degree CSC, and bond was set again at $20,000.

That brings the current total to four separate cases resulting in a total of seven counts of criminal sexual conduct spanning multiple degrees. MSP believes there still may be other victims, witnesses, or individuals with additional information. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the MSP Negaunee Post at 906-475-9922.
