Gogebic County man charged with child sexually abusive activity, soliciting children

Gogebic County Sheriff's Office

BESSEMER, MI— A Bessemer man has been arraigned on 16 felony charges related to child sexually abusive material.

Gogebic County Prosecutor Nick Jacobs says Asher Carlisle, 24, was on probation for a 2024 conviction of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct when he was arrested last week for new crimes.

Earlier this year, law enforcement received information that Carlisle was using Snapchat to text children from outside the area and sharing nude photos to encourage sexual acts with them. His probation agent seized three of Carlisle’s phones and a search warrant was issued to preserve and search his Snapchat account. All were analyzed and investigated by the MSP Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Marquette in May. Jacobs says police found more than 4,000 nude images and chats with minors.

Carlisle is charged with:

· four counts of accosting, enticing or soliciting children under the age of 16 for immoral purposes

· nine counts of child sexually abusive activity

· three counts of using a computer to commit a crime

A probable cause conference is set for June 30 and a preliminary exam for July 7 in Gogebic County District Court.

Jacobs says although the identities of the victims in the case are unknown, some are as young as eight.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
