ONTONAGON, MI— An Ontonagon man has been arrested by the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on charges related to child sexually abusive activity.
The Michigan Department of Corrections and ICAC initiated an investigation into Brent Mayer, 35, when it was learned he may have accessed illicit content on the internet. A search of his residence resulted in digital evidence being seized.
Mayer was arraigned Monday on seven counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, one count of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, and eight counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Mayer was additionally charged with being a habitual offender-2nd offense, which may increase his penalties if convicted.
Mayer’s bond was set at $50,000.
