Iron County man charged with homicide

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI— A Crystal Falls man has been arrested for murder.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched Sunday around 6:45 a.m. to Crystal Falls Township after receiving information about the death of a 76-year-old woman.

George Kamber, 78, was taken into custody. He was arraigned Thursday on one count of homicide-open murder.

A probable cause conference is set for August 4 and a preliminary exam for August 11 in Iron County District Court.

Kamber remains lodged in the Iron County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
