Escanaba traffic stop ends in discovery of drugs, two arrests

ESCANABA, MI— Two people were arrested on drug charges in Escanaba Thursday.

Around 8:50 p.m. an officer with the Escanaba Department of Public Safety requested a K-9 unit to assist with a traffic stop. A positive K-9 alert resulted in two arrests and the recovery of roughly 10 grams of meth and a small amount of cocaine.

Follow-up investigation resulted in the recovery of an additional 20 grams of meth.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team assisted in the incident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
