Soo student removed from Malcolm campus following alleged threat

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A student was removed from Malcolm Alternative High School in Sault Ste. Marie Tuesday, following a potential threat.

A safety hold was placed on the school after a 911 call reported the threat. Police responded and removed a 14-year-old from campus before classes began.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, and Sault Tribal Police worked alongside school staff to investigate the incident. No weapons were found and no one was harmed.

The student is undergoing evaluation in accordance with district policy and state law.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
