Increased Medicare fraud being reported in Marquette area

MARQUETTE, MI— The Marquette Police Department says there has been an uptick in reported Medicare fraud incidents locally.

Beneficiaries have reported fraudulent billing for durable medical equipment they never requested, received, or needed.

Medicare beneficiaries are reminded to closely examine their Medicare Summary Notices for inconsistencies and report any suspicious activity to 1-800-MEDICARE or online at www.medicare.gov.

The Marquette Senior Center is available to assist local beneficiaries with correcting potential fraud issues. They can be reached at 906-228-0456.
