Delta Animal Shelter grappling with scam on Facebook

ESCANABA, MI— The Delta County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam on the Delta Animal Shelter’s Facebook page.

Posts are directing those interested in adopting an animal to click a link. The post says doing so will allow you to submit an application to secure the animal and make an appointment for pickup.

Deputies say it’s a scam. They’re advising people not to click the link or send any money for a deposit on an animal.

The Sheriff’s Office is in contact with the shelter, which is working on getting the posts removed.
