Rudyard man nabbed by MSP ICAC for child sexually abusive activity

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, MI— A Chippewa County man has been charged with downloading child sexually abusive material from the internet.

Mason Harger-Laporte, 29, of Rudyard was arrested by the Michigan State Police when the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force learned he was receiving the material online.

A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of evidence that confirmed his activity.

Harger-Laporte is charged with two counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive activity and one count of using a computer to commit a crime. He was arraigned in 91st District Court.

He was released on a $25,000 cash bond with conditions including no contact with anyone under 18 and no internet use on any electronic device.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
