IROWOOD, MI— A 32-year-old woman has been arrested for trafficking drugs in Gogebic County.
In November, the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team learned Rachael Porter had been sourcing meth from Oneida County, Wisconsin and selling it in the U.P.
Investigators reached out to the North Central Drug Enforcement Group (NORDEG) in northern Wisconsin. They learned Porter was traveling through Iron County, which led them to believe she’d be entering Gogebic County on November 22.
GIANT located Porter’s vehicle in Ironwood. As she was taken into custody for operating under the influence of a controlled substance, a K9 indicated the vehicle contained drugs. A search uncovered meth and cocaine.
Porter is charged with the following:
- Possession of meth
- Possession with intent to deliver meth
- Delivery/possession of meth in a park
- Possession of cocaine, less than 25 grams
- Possession with intent to deliver cocaine, less than 50 grams
- Operating while intoxicated
- Operating while license suspended/revoked/denied
Additional charges are expected in other jurisdictions.
Porter remains lodged in the Gogebic County Jail.
Assisting in the incident were Ironwood Public Safety, the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, and K9 Debwe.
