Bomb threat locks down Tahquamenon Area Schools

NEWBERRY, MI— A note containing a bomb threat prompted the lockdown of Tahquamenon Area Schools Tuesday.

The Luce County Sheriff’s Office says the note was found in one of the high school classrooms between second and third hours. The students from first- and second-hour classes who had occupied the room were interviewed and their lockers were searched.

A bomb-sniffing dog was also brought in from the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post. The school went into lockdown mode while the search was conducted. Nothing was found.

Investigation into who wrote the note is ongoing by the School Resource Officer.

Troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post assisted in the incident.
