SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A Canadian man was arrested last week for possessing a stolen commercial vehicle.
On Friday evening, a motor carrier officer from the Sault Ste. Marie Post was on patrol by the International Bridge when he stopped a semi truck towing a trailer for commercial vehicle violations. Investigation revealed the truck had been reported stolen out of Ontario. The MCO also found the truck’s VIN number had been altered in an apparent attempt to conceal its identity.
The vehicle and trailer were towed from the scene.
The driver, Yuvraj Singh, 24, of Brampton, Ontario, is charged with receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, concealing or misrepresenting the identity of a motor vehicle with intent, and invalid license plate-international registration plan.
Singh was given a personal recognizance bond with conditions including he must surrender his passport, he must not leave the county or state, and he must be monitored by a GPS tether.
The MSP was assisted by US Customs and Border Protection, the US Border Patrol, and Southwest Commercial Auto Recovery.
