Three nabbed during GIANT bust in Ironwood

IRONWOOD, MI— A drug bust by the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team resulted in the arrest of three people earlier this month.

GIANT conducted controlled buys of meth and cocaine from an Ironwood residence, after several years of investigating the home. Officers said prescription drugs were also being sold out of the house.

The following people were arrested March 16 and arraigned:

Mary Conley, 61, of Ironwood (the homeowner)

  • 4 counts of delivery of meth
  • Conspiracy to deliver meth
  • Maintaining a drug house
  • Delivery of cocaine
  • Delivery of cocaine in a park
  • Delivery of meth in a park

Jeffrey Emery, 48, of Ironwood

  • Delivery of meth
  • Conspiracy to deliver meth

Chad Bergquist, 43, of Ramsay

  • Conspiracy to deliver meth

Additional arrests are expected.

GIANT was assisted by the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Ironwood, the Gogebic County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jacobs and GIANT K-9 Debwe.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
