GARDEN TOWNSHIP, MI— A Rapid River man has been arrested on drug and weapons charges.

A trooper from the Gladstone Post was on patrol on LL Road in Garden Township Sunday when the officer saw a man with an active arrest warrant riding a bicycle. The suspect was identified as Michael Riggers, 28, of Rapid River.

Riggers crossed the intersection with US-2 and the trooper tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Riggers rode to a nearby residence before complying. The trooper took him into custody.

During an investigation, officers discovered Riggers was carrying a concealed pistol without a license, meth, and prescription pills that weren’t his own.

A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of another pistol, 14 long guns, and additional meth. One of the guns was reported stolen in 2016.

Riggers is charged with possession of meth, carrying a concealed weapon, maintaining a drug house, possession of analogues, and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
He remains lodged in the Delta County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
