Escanaba police arrest man for shooting gun inside house

ESCANABA, MI— A man is in custody in Escanaba after he allegedly shot a firearm inside a residence.

The Escanaba Department of Public Safety was dispatched Thursday around 3:45 p.m. to 307 North 14th Street on a report a male subject had pointed a gun at another male. The gun went off inside the residence, but there were no injuries reported.

After officers arrived at the scene, Central Dispatch said they had been given the wrong address. The incident actually happened at 307 North 12th Street.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He was lodged in the Delta County Jail on charges of felonious assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police Gladstone Post assisted at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
