Newberry suspect charged with possessing child sexually abusive material

NEWBERRY, MI— A Luce County man has been arrested for possession of child sexually abusive material.

The Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force says Calvin Gerwatowski, 19, of Newberry was arrested following an investigation by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Officials learned he may have accessed and shared illicit content online.

A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of digital evidence.

Gerwatowski is charged with two counts of possession of child sexually abusive material. He was arraigned April 10 in Luce County District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
