Marquette Target shoplifting suspect caught and arrested near Biggby Coffee

MARQUETTE, MI— A man has been taken into custody for shoplifting from the Marquette Target store.

Friday around 2:09 p.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was notified the suspect fled the store with a PlayStation 5.

The man was found by a Michigan State Police K-9 trooper in the area of 3165 Wright Street, by Biggby Coffee. When police tried to arrest him, the suspect resisted. He was eventually arrested and lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the MSP Negaunee Post, Michigan DNR, Marquette Township Fire, and an off-duty volunteer firefighter who helped officers take the suspect into custody.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
