Garden man nabbed for possessing drugs, 40 firearms

ESCANABA, MI— A Delta County man has been arrested on gun and drug charges.

Michigan State Police from the Manistique Outpost learned of a person who was suspected of being a felon in possession of firearms. On Thursday, Bruce Rochefort, 56, of Garden was found in the Gladstone area. A search warrant executed on his vehicle uncovered a pneumatic gun, a double-edged sword measuring more than 18 inches long, hydrocodone pills, and ammunition in four different calibers.

At the same time, troopers executed a search warrant at Rochefort’s home. They seized 39 firearms, a large quantity of assorted ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and a small amount of meth.

On Friday, Rochefort was charged with possession of meth, possession of analogues, three counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, two counts of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

He remains lodged in the Delta County Jail.
