MARQUETTE, MI— Marquette Police have arrested a man on domestic violence and trespassing charges on Marquette Branch Prison property.
On August 20, officers took a report of a domestic violence incident that occurred several days prior at a well-established makeshift campsite on Marquette Branch Prison property. The suspect was identified as Drummond Smithson, 34, who has resided in multiple states with the most recent being in the Marquette area.
On Friday, the Marquette Police Department, with assistance from the Michigan State Police and Michigan Department of Corrections, located Smithson at his campsite and arrested him without incident.
Smithson is charged with domestic violence and trespass of a state correctional facility. He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.
