GLADSTONE, MI— Gladstone Public Safety arrested a suspect for stealing a vehicle early Saturday morning.
Around 4:49 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling north on M-35, by Gladstone High School, at a high rate of speed. The officer tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver took off.
A pursuit ensued at speeds of over 80 miles per hour. It ended when the driver crashed into a “road closed” barricade on East Mapleridge Road. The officer conducted a high-risk stop and took the driver into custody.
Subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Menominee County earlier in the day.
The suspect was treated at St. Francis Hospital, then lodged in the Delta County Jail for receiving and concealing stolen property, fleeing and eluding, and driving without a license.
