Suspect in shooting of Greenland woman found dead

GREENLAND, MI— The suspect in an Ontonagon County shooting Saturday apparently took his own life afterwards, according to police.

A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched around 5:12 p.m. to the 600 block of Depot Street in Greenland for a reported gunshot wound. The officer was able to safely extract a woman from the residence and take her to EMS personnel, who were staged away from the scene.

Other responding officers found the suspect’s vehicle on a neighboring property. They tactically approached it and found a man inside, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident remains under investigation, and further details will be released at a later date.
