Suspect arrested in Marquette County for stabbing man, assaulting juvenile

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI— A man was arrested in Chocolay Township Friday for stabbing another man during an altercation.

Just before 10 p.m., troopers from the Negaunee Post responded to a residence and found a 36-year-old man had allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old man. The suspect also allegedly assaulted a juvenile prior to the stabbing.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. He remains in stable condition. The juvenile who was assaulted reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The suspect remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail. His name has not yet been released.

Michigan State Police were assisted by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Police, Marquette Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Chocolay Township Police Department, and Marquette County Central Dispatch.
