FLORENCE, WI— The Florence County School District postponed its Homecoming parade Friday due to a “swatting” incident.
Around 10:25 a.m., district officials told 911 a caller made a bomb and active shooter threat. School officials, deputies, and neighboring Michigan agencies evacuated the school.
An investigation by law enforcement and Emergency Management indicated other school districts in Wisconsin had similar calls. Officials confirmed it was a “swatting” incident.
A bomb dog from Brown County was used to clear the school.
As a result of the chaos, the school district decided to postpone the Homecoming parade to a future date.
