Ford River man charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder

Handcuffs and the word 'arrest'

ESCANABA, MI— A Delta County man is jailed in connection with a domestic violence incident in Ford River Wednesday.

At 4:15 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on M-35 and found a victim with injuries. The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital.

The suspect, James Dahl, called police. He claimed he was suicidal and had guns. The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team responded, and traffic was rerouted away from the scene. The ES team entered and cleared the residence.

Dahl was later found at a different residence. He was arrested and charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and interfering with electronic communications.

Dahl remains lodged in the Delta County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
