Calley continues U.P. tour

L'ANSE, MI (AP)--   Michigan's Lt. Gov. Brian Calley is visiting a number of Upper Peninsula businesses during a multi-day tour this week.

Events began Monday.  More stops are Tuesday and Wednesday.  The governor's office says the businesses being visited by Calley are growing.

On Tuesday, Calley has stops at L'Anse Manufacturing, which does machining in L'Anse, and Neenah Paper Michigan, a paper manufacturer in Munising.

On Wednesday, Calley plans to visit Carmeuse Lime & Stone, a producer of lime and limestone products in Gulliver, and Graymont Western Lime, a raw material supplier in Gulliver.  He'll also make stops to talk with a gathering of Sault Ste. Marie business leaders and tour the Soo Locks.  Calley also has a Wednesday visit at Precision Edge Surgical Products, a surgical tools maker in Sault Ste. Marie.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
