Bay Mills gets money for childhood education center

BRIMLEY, MI--   Bay Mills Community College in Brimley has received funding from the USDA Rural Development Tribal College Grant Program. 

The program provides land-grant institutions with funds for outreach and education services to help meet the needs of Native American communities. 

Bay Mills will use its nearly $159,000 grant to construct a new early childhood education learning lab building. 

The funding is part of $3.3 million in grants for 21 projects in eight states. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
