Grand Hotel president to speak at NMU commencement

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University has named this semester’s commencement speaker.  

R.D. “Dan” Musser III is the president of Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.  He’ll deliver the keynote address at the mid-year commencement ceremony Sunday, and will also receive an honorary Doctor of Business degree from NMU. 

Billed as the world’s largest summer resort, the Grand Hotel is currently celebrating its 125th anniversary.  Musser and his sister represent the third generation of Musser family ownership and operation of the hotel.

Commencement begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Superior Dome.  It will be broadcast live on Public TV 13 and streamed online free of charge on the America One/B2 Networks.  Go to www.nmu.edu/commencement. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
