Gladstone students to shadow area businesses

GLADSTONE, MI (AP)--   A new partnership between Gladstone businesses offering a view of real-world work skills through job shadowing will begin in the next few weeks for students.

The Daily Press of Escanaba reports that at least 20 junior and senior students are expected to participate. The program begins in December with career exploration seminars.

Business professionals will provide information about educational requirements, duties, opportunities and salary in their careers. Students then will be matched with businesses and local professionals for job shadowing.

Gladstone Superintendent Jay Kulbertis says former Gladstone high school biology teacher Kathy Becker is leading the program. Becker will market the program to businesses, match them with students, mentor the students and evaluate the program.
