LSSU Board confirms new president

Associated Press

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI (AP)--   Lake Superior State University's Board of Trustees has confirmed University of Wisconsin official Thomas Pleger as the northern Michigan school's next president.

The Evening News of Sault Ste. Marie reports that the governing board for the roughly 3,000-student university formalized Pleger's appointment at a meeting on Friday.  The selection was announced last Tuesday.

Pleger plans to take over on July 1. He'll be the Sault Ste. Marie school's eighth president. He's replacing current school President Tony McLain, who announced in 2012 that he would be retiring.

Pleger is campus executive officer and dean of the University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County.
