NMU Board approves 3.2% increase in tuition

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University has set tuition and fee rates for next year.

On Friday the board of trustees approved a 3.2-percent increase in tuition for full-time resident undergraduates.  The $291 hike means the annual cost will be $9,385.

The increase falls within the tuition restraint percentage mandated by the Michigan Legislature for universities to receive full state funding.

The board also approved the draft of a contract for president-elect Fritz Erickson, who’s set to begin his tenure July 1.  Details of the contract will be made public once Erickson signs it.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
