Word banishment deadline approaching

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   Like grains of sand falling through an hourglass, so are the days where you can submit a word to be banished slipping past.

Every new year since 1976 Lake Superior State University has issued an annual “List of Words Banished from the Queen’s English for Mis-Use, Over-Use, or General Uselessness.”  Nominations are gathered throughout the year and the list is released December 31.

Previous banishments include My Bad, Free Gift, Hack, and Polar Vortex.

To submit your favorite—or least favorite—word or phrase, click here.
