Tech celebrates Winter Carnival this week

HOUGHTON, MI--   Activity is revving up at Michigan Technological University as students prepare for the Winter Carnival all-nighter.

Students have been working on giant snow statues ever since they returned from winter break. This year’s theme is “Snow Cascades Across the Decades.”  Beginning at 4 Wednesday afternoon competitors will start putting the final touches on their snow creations.  The all-nighter ends at 8 Thursday morning.

Other Winter Carnival events include the Stage Revue Thursday night at the Rozsa Center; broomball; a torchlight parade down Mont Ripley Ski Hill; and fireworks Saturday night.
