MARQUETTE, MI-- Northern Michigan University’s housing and dining rates are going up a bit next year.
The cost of a standard, double-occupancy room and a “gold constant meal pass” for the 2017-18 academic year in current residence halls will be $5,039 per semester. That’s an increase of $237. The cost of a double-occupancy shared suite and meal plan in two of the new residence halls will be $5,432 per semester.
The new residential units will have 400 beds. The basic shared rooms will be 30 percent larger than current ones and contain a partial wall between sleeping areas. Upgraded shared bedrooms feature private bedrooms with lockable doors, and the buildings will also contain single rooms with a private bath.
The NMU Board of Trustees approved the rates on Friday.
