Children's library temporarily relocating in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   Peter White Public Library’s children’s library is moving to the Westwood Mall while the building’s youth area gets revamped.

Youth Services Librarian Sarah Rehborg says the room will be expanded, a roof will be put over the atrium windows, a program room will be created, and a new “tween zone” is being installed.

Rehborg says the children’s area will close Monday and be unavailable through May 6 as it moves next to Bath & Bodyworks in the mall.

“We really want people to still come to the library. We are going to be open. It’s been a little bit of a misconception going around that we’re closing—we’re not closing, we are going to reopen—and we’ll be available to continue our normal services,” she says.

The children’s library will open at the mall Monday, May 7. Most programs will be on hiatus until June 9, when the Summer Reading Kickoff Concert will be held.

Rehborg says the new youth area may be finished by November.

The rest of Peter White Library will remain open through construction.
